Snake Dike 5.7 - Half Dome - Yosemite Valley

Teamed up with Marc and Dylan we went to climb the Snake Dike for the first time. We camped on the Little Yosemite Valley with Baljit.

On the next day Baljit went to the regular route and we went to try to find the approach to the climb.

The Sanke Dike on the center of the image.

After some iterations on the approach, Dylan started the first pitch, which Marc and I followed. Then he continued with the second, and didn't traversed at the double bolt, but continued to another 5.9, I imageine that also "R" route, above.

Dylan getting off route.

Belaying from a crappy bolt off route.

After running out the rope significantly, we runned out of rope, so Marc and I started moving simultaneously with Dylan, untill we got to the one bolt before the last. With ony two bolts between Dylan and us, we told him that probably we were off route, and he descended, then traversed to the correct dike. I lead the 4 pitches on the dike and finally Macr took the last one.

The Dike proper.

More Dike

On a second trip to the same route, I realized that the topo is very obvious, we were just not paying attention at that time.
