Taking advantage that Sebastien came for Eric's wedding, we went a weekend on mid may 2003 to ski to the sierras. On the first day we went to the Bloody Couloir, tipically a steep and scary couloir, but with one to two feets of powder, it looked very mild. We thought for a while at the bottom of the gully, since so much powder also means avalanche danger. But the pack looked stable and deep... So we went up.
Sebastien following deep tracks.
The gully had up to 2 feet of powder
The otherwhise step and mean looking gully looked friendly with so much
snow.
Sebastien topping on the left couloir.
So we got the bad weather just when we got to the top...
I was getting a bit tired with this "tortilla" thing.
But Check out the powder!!
Sebastien was enjoying also. I think he got good
memory from the sierras
What a fine descent.
