Eldelberry Canyon on Mount Tom 13,600ft

On Saturday, April 16 2005, we went with Alan to ski Mount Tom to the top. It turned out to be my third defeat in the colossal mountain. Eldelberry’s canyon in Tom is a enormous canyon that goes at a very moderate angle and therefore is easy to skin up. It faces north down low, then changes to east as you go up. The Head wall faces east, so it gets cooked fast. Because of this we started at 6:20am  from the car, parked at the end of the 4x4 road, at 6200ft. At 9:00am, we were at 10,200ft at the bottom of the head wall. However Alan’s binding had broken, and we were aborting our attempt. At 9:30am continued to try to at least reach the head wall, but at 10am, in the middle of the head wall, the snow was very slushy, so I beal. We came down, Alan skiing on one ski.
