San Jacinto Peak (11,084') - North Face

We skied San Jacinto Peak in April 2001. We went up with the tramway, then skinned up to the top of the peak in about 2 hours. After waiting for the snow to soften up a bit, Al, Fred, Eric and I skied the north gully, which is very impressive seen from the 10 freeway. The top was a bit rocky and we had to find our way down. However, after that section, the gully gave us some real nice corn snow. The ambiance was great, skiing down from the top of the mountain to the desert floor. At the end of the snow, a long hike out was awaiting us, with a lot of bushwhacking...

After a little bit of tricky downclimbing, we set up a Tyrolean system to lower the backpacks!
