Mount Wood (12,637')

 

Mount Wood is located slightly north of June Lake, and its base can be reached via the June Lake Loop. We skied it in January 2001, it was our first Sierra trip of the season. The bottom was pretty thin but covered with windblown powder. As we headed up, the snow got better and we eventually skied a steep gully full of powder which was awesome. Fred was pissed off because he hit his brand new Hagan Titanium skis at the bottom on hidden rocks...
